With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to inform you that we are taking this situation very seriously. We are monitoring the situation closely, paying attention to our local authorities including area school districts and government agencies.
At this point CERAland has delayed all practices for Youth Baseball of Bartholomew County until April 6th. Coaches should not have any organized practices until April 6th.
Opening week for Youth Baseball will be decided in the weeks to come.

March 7, 2020 inside the Ceraland Sports Center Times: 8:00-9:30am (ages 7-8) 9:30-11:00am (ages 9-10) 11:00am-12:00pm (ages 11 & up)
Players will be evaluated on hitting, throwing and fielding. Ages 9 & up will also be evaluated on pitching. Ages 4-6 do NOT attend evaluation day.
Players should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes (no cleats), and bring their bat, glove, and helmet.
Players may leave once their evaluation is complete. They do not need to stay for the duration of their age group.
Draft Days The draft will be held at the Ceraland Trap & Skeet Building (located across from the GoKart track). Only coaches and board members will attend the draft.
March 10th 6:00-8:00pm 7/8 Division draft March 11th 5:30-7:00pm 9/10 Division draft 7:30-9:00pm 11/12 & 13/14 Division draft
Team sizes will be kept under twelve players, dependent on final number of players and coaches.
Draft will be conducted snake style and order is chosen by random draw.
Coaches are guaranteed their child and ONE assistant coach's child on their team.
Wherever the coach's child and the assistant coach's child is evaluated, is the pick for the coach in that round. In the event that both children are evaluated to be first round drafts, the third round pick for that coach will be moved to the fifth round, and two fifth round picks will be chosen.
Special requests are not guaranteed. The request is known at the time of the draft, but it ultimately determined by evaluations and round picks.
Once the draft is complete, it is the responsibility of the coach to contact each player on their team. We ask that coaches make contact within one week of the draft.
Team uniforms are paid by a team sponsor
It is the coach's responsibility to find a sponsor for their team. YBBC can assist coaches who are unable to find a sponsor.
The average cost for sponsorship is $500.

All practices are scheduled by the coaches and at the coach's discretion, (time slot, day(s) of the week, etc.)
YBBC asks that each coach holds at least one practice per week.
Coaches may start practices OUTSIDE of Ceraland on March 23rd.
Practices at Ceraland begin on March 30th.
All players are expected to supply their own cleats (NO METAL CLEATS), bat, glove, and helmet.
Bat requirements are outlined in the USSSA rule book.
YBBC allows USA and/or USSSA stamped bats.
Divisons 4/5 and 5/6 cannot have a bat with a barrel larger than 2 1/4".
Divisions 7/8 and higher may use 2 3/4" big barrel bats.

Opening week will be held April 20th-23rd
Every team will play at least one game during opening week, weather permitting.
Team pictures will be taken prior to your first game. Coaches will be given more information regarding pictures before opening week.
Players will sell Punch Cards for the 2020 season fundraiser
Punch Cards are sold at $10 per card
100% of the money raised goes back into the YBBC program. All new catcher's gear was purchased with the funds raised in 2019!
Punch Card order forms will be given to the coaches at the draft. Coaches should distributed these forms to all players as soon as possible.
Order forms and money are to due back to your team's coach during Opening week.
All games are played following USSSA Baseball rules that have been modified to fit our rec league format.
The official rule book is posted on ybbcbaseball.org and coaches will receive a copy.
The regular season will consist of 10 games
Game days are
Mondays and Wednesdays- Divisions 7/8, 11/12, 13/14
Tuesdays and Thursdays- Divisions 4/5, 5/6, 9/10
The official schedule will be available a few weeks prior to Opening Week.
Ceraland will make the official call on rain outs, rain delays, or any weather related delays/cancellations. YBBC will notify coaches and players as soon as the decision is made. Game cancellations should be at a minimum with the new turf infields.
Cancelled games will be rescheduled as quickly as possible.
All games are played following USSSA Baseball rules that have been modified to fit the rec league format.
Only Divisions 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, and 13/14 will have tournaments games.
Tournament games will start the week following the completion of the regular season . Game cancellations can affect the start and schedule of the tournament. YBBC does their best to keep all games on schedule.
Tournaments will be a double elimination format.
Team seeding is determined by the team's regular season record.
Call Up Players
A call up player may ONLY be used in the event a team does not have enough players to field a full defense.
Call up players must bat last in the lineup
Coaches are encouraged to rotate call up players when necessary.
During the course of the season, a list of call up players and their information will be developed and shared among coaches.
YBBC will not have postseason All-star teams. In lieu of the All-star teams, YBBC has created the Diesel Baseball Program.
Diesel players are required to play in the YBBC rec league.
Tryouts will be held in August 2020.
