HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CHILD FROM SUMMER HEAT DURING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Home › How to Protect Your Child From Summer Heat During Outdoor Activities
Summer is the perfect season to spend some time outdoors and have a blast. Children don’t have to worry about school and parents don’t have to worry about their child getting affected by the winter weather. However, summer isn’t as harmless as it seems because intense heat and sunlight can be just as dangerous as cold and ice. At CERAland, we recommend that you take certain precautions to keep your child healthy and happy during summer.
Light, Breathable Clothes
Children tend to be very active when they’re outdoors. They run, jump, shout, and indulge in a number of physical activities that can make them sweat heavily. Sweating is the body’s way to maintain healthy temperature so there’s nothing wrong with it. But clothes soaking in sweat can make your child’s body too cold too quickly, which can be unhealthy. That’s why it’s important to ensure your child wears moisture wicking, breathable clothes that would keep them cool without soaking up the sweat.
Slather the Sunscreen
Sunscreen is absolutely essential during summer, even on a relatively cloudy day. Make sure that you use a screen with at least SPF 15 thought SPF 30 is ideal. You need to apply the sunscreen all over your child’s body, even on areas that are covered by clothes like the shoulders and back. Let the cream sink into the skin for 30 minutes before you allow you children to go out. You should also make sure that the sunscreen is reapplied every two hours or after a swim. This would protect your children from sunburns and other such problems.
Your children will lose considerable amount of water in sweat so it’s vital to keep them hydrated. We recommend that you avoid sugary drinks like soda or juices and stick to water. That would provide hydration without harming your children’s health.
