Just because it is winter doesn’t mean that you need to keep your children cooped up inkeep warm winterside your home in an effort to protect them. In fact, experts will tell you that wintertime activity is essential to keep your children healthy. Today, keeping your children active is an ongoing struggle.
At CERAland, we believe that parents should encourage outdoor activities in their children and let them enjoy it throughout the year. Here are some ways you can keep your children warm and safe while letting them have a blast in the snow.
The first thing you need to do is bundle your child up in layers before you take them to the nearest park to play. Layers will work better than a single, thick piece of clothing. Here’s what your child would need:
The first layer of clothing, (that would be nearest to the skin), should be made of moisture wicking materials. You can choose polyester or other such materials.
The next layer should provide adequate insulation. This layer can be made up of fleece or wool. The idea is to keep the child warm and it acts as a barrier.
The final layer should be wind-proof and can be made from materials like nylon. This layer would need to come off when your child is performing strenuous activities like running or skating. If you allow the out layer to remain, your child might start feeling very hot and start to sweat, which isn’t healthy.
Of course, you need hats, scarves, mittens, and water-proof shoes to protect any exposed areas on your child. This would keep your kid perfectly warm for winter activities outside.
You need to keep your child warm and hydrated. It’s very easy to get dehydrated during the winter, especially if children are engaged in activities and distracted. Give you child something warm to drink occasionally. If you don’t have a hot drink with you, you should give them some normal water.
It’s also important to get them out of the cold regularly to maintain the body’s temperature. This way, your child can engage in recreation without compromising their health.
