*Guests must be accompanied by a paying Ceraland Member in order to receive the Guest rate.
No fee applies if you are a Gold or Gold+ Member, but each participant must have their Ceraland membership cards present to be eligible for the discount.
Swimming Lessons
Ceraland offers a variety of American Red Cross Aquatic Instruction for all ages.
| Youth Swimming Lessons |
All ages are welcome. Please note: Parents are welcome to watch their child's class from behind the fence in the baby pool area or outside the fence around the main pool. |
| Adult Swimming Lessons |
Adult lessons follow the same progression as the youth lessons, however the class proceeds at the rate of instruction that is comfortable for adults. |
Class Level Descriptions
In order to determine the proper skill level / class, please review the skills requirements for each level below. Each child must be able to complete the skills from the previous level prior to moving to the next level.
| Level Infant and Preschool |
These classes develop swimming readiness by teaching children how to have fun in the water. These programs include parent and child participation and have several guided practice sessions that are taught by a Red Cross Instructor. Children learn such elementary skills as water entry, bubble blowing, underwater exploration, and much more.
Level I Water Exploration
- Orientation to aquatic environment
- Create a sound foundation for aquatic safety and skills
- Supported floating and kicking on front and back
- Alternating arm action
- How to get help in an emergency
- Reaching assists without the help of equipment
- Fundamentals of using a life jacket
Level II Primary Skills
- Expand on fundamental aquatic locomotion and safety skills
- Floating and kicking on front and back
- Rhythmic breathing
- Combined stroke on front and back
- Turning over; front to back, back to front
- Reaching and extension assists
- Familiarity with rescue breathing
Level III Stroke Readiness
- Increase swimming skill competency
- Practice safety and rescue skills
- Fundamentals of elementary backstroke
- Jumping into deep water with a life jacket
- Diving from side of pool
- Treading water
- Self-rescue skills
- Rescue breathing
Level IV Stroke Development
- Develop confidence and competency in strokes and safety skills beyond preceding levels
- Introduction of the breaststroke and sidestroke
- Deep-water bobbing
- Dives from side of pool, from strides and standing positions
- Turns at the pool wall
- Familiarity with CPR
Level V Stroke Refinement
- Continued refinement of backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, front crawl, back crawl
- Introduce butterfly stroke and surface dives
- Alternate breathing
- Swimming underwater
- Open turns on the front and back
- Diving safety
- Beginning diving progression from diving board (optional)
Level VI Skill Proficiency
- Develop maximum efficiency and endurance for strokes
- Continued refinement of surface dives
- Introduce flip turns at the pool wall
- Approach and hurdle on the diving board (optional)
- Alternative kicks for treading water
- Throwing rescues
- Turning spinal injury victim face up
- Approach stroke
- Tuck and pike surface dives
Level VII Advanced Skills
- Encourage lifetime fitness
- Refinement of all strokes
- Develop springboard diving skills
- Incorporating learn-to-swim skills and activities into lifetime fitness
- Springboard dive in tuck and pike positions (optional)
- In-water rescue techniques utilizing equipment
- Conditioning techniques
- Review basic water safety skills

Private Swim Lessons
Lessons are taught one-on-one at a level comfortable to the participant. Whether beginner or novice, private lessons enhance the learning process and encourages participants to swim at their best.

Scuba
This class will cover the essentials needed for safe diving in open waters. The combination of classroom and in-water instruction will prepare you for the final test and open water dive needed for certification. Classes are P.A.D.I. (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and the certification does not expire. You must provide your own mask, fins, and snorkel. All other equipment will be provided. If you do not have these items, please wait until after the first class to purchase them. You must provide all of the equipment needed for the check out dive or you may rent it. Please only capable swimmers.

Pool Rentals
Bring your summer party to the Ceraland Aquatic Center. While enjoying your special occasion, you can treat your friends and family to the beauty of Ceraland and the fun and excitement of our Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center has a 7,630 square foot swimming pool with two diving boards and a 99 foot water slide! There is also a zero-depth pool with a children's playground in the water. And for the smallest swimmers in your group, the fenced off baby pool is a real treat!
