Home › 3 Simple Outdoor Games to Play with Your Kids
These days, children spend a lot of time parked in front of the TV or their computer, playing video games or watching movies and programs. This rising trend has been commented upon and parents all over have been worried. At CERAland, we believe that a very simple solution to get children out of your home and into the sun is to lead by example.
If parents incorporate outdoor activities into their lives, it’ll promote the health and wellness of the entire family. One of the best ways to do that is through outdoor games.
Outdoor games don’t need to be complicated and hopscotch is a perfect example of this. All you need is a sidewalk or a stretch of plain ground, a piece of chalk, and flat stone. You need to draw, from the bottom to the top, a single square, a double square, two single squares, and double square. After that, you need to toss the stone the first square, hop over it. You can only place on foot on a square. The game not only gets your children out of the house, but it also promotes hand-eye ordination, balance, and agility.
2) Hide and Seek
This is the same most of us will remember from our childhood and can be a blast. The rules of play are simple. One person counts to ten or twenty with their eyes closed while others hide. After the count is done, the child needs to find hidden players. There are several variations of this game, but the general idea is the same. This game is exciting as children always love to hide.
Your child would need to be creative to find the right hiding place, or to seek others out. This game is also long and an entire afternoon can pass by without your kids even realizing it.
Like Hide and Seek, Tag is also a game that almost everyone knows and has played. It’s also a game that tends to last for a long time and ends with happy but exhausted kids. The game involves a child being It. She has to tag another child by running after them. The first person she manages to tag is It and he has to find others to tag. There’s no back tagging allowed.
