Today, everyone needs a small break once in a while. Nothing relaxes you better than spending some time away from the concrete jungle. Camping in a park is just what you need to reconnect with family or friends.
However, if it’s not planned correctly, you can end up having a stressful time instead of it being fun. So here are few tips to make your first and every camping trip a stellar success.
#1 – Choose the Right Spot
Choosing the right spot is important for the overall success of your trip. This is especially vital if it’s your first venture. Pick a place that’s relatively easy to reach and fairly close to your home for your first experience. That way, if something goes wrong and you need to return home urgently, you’re not too far away. Campgrounds come fully equipped with restrooms, showers, laundromats, and even vending machines, which can ease you into camping.
Just bear in mind that certain popular sites can become crowded during holidays and weekends. If you’re looking for a more isolated experience, you might want to camp on a weekday.
#2 – Pack the Right Way
Don’t forget to pack everything you need before you leave. You’ll need a tent if you want to spend the night in the camp peacefully. Skipping sleep isn’t conducive to a great camping experience so pack with your comfort in mind.
Also pack disposable cups, plates, cutlery, towels, etc. Carry a pan, some cooking oil, foodstuff and drinks. Be sure to carry enough drinking water with you to avoid dehydration in the hot summer months. Camping promotes wellness; you don’t want to counteract the benefits by ignoring what your body needs.
#3 – Don’t Forget the Campfire
A camping expedition isn’t complete without a campfire, and perhaps some marshmallows to go along with it. Check with the operators or supervisors if campfires are allowed everywhere or if you can only light them in designated areas. Be sure to bring prongs to cook marshmallows. While twigs and sticks might be traditional, they’re not entirely hygienic and may be hard to find.
While you take up camping for recreation, you still need to be responsible. Make sure you leave the campground as you found it. Clean up after yourself and dispose trash in designated areas.
